Stockholm’s environmental targets and efforts
Stockholm is a green city that stresses recycling. For the nature and sustainability-conscious, there are also several thrift stores in the city and surrounding areas. This area south of Folkungagatan are packed with interesting, trendy, and creative shops for fashion, design, decor, jewelry, trinkets – vintage and second-hand – antiquities, books and magazines, music, and much more. Several fashion brands maintain stores in the area. And it has a great variety of restaurants, bars, cafés, and galleries.
Stockholm was named the first European Green Capital in 2010, a reward for its long-standing and long-term commitment to environmental work. The ambition is for Stockholm to remain and become even better at being a climate-smart city with sustainable use of energy and transportation, clean air and clear water, and where choosing an eco-friendly life style is made simple.
