Bars and nightclubs in Stockholm
Stockholm’s best bars and nightclubs
Stockholm has a rich and varied array of nightclubs, many of which are concentrated around Stureplan and along Kungsgatan up toward Sveavägen. But don’t forget Södermalm’s offerings of bars and nightclubs, often seen as the young and trendy alternative.
In the Söder neighborhood, nightlife is less concentrated around squares such as Stureplan. But from Slussen and Götgatsbacken, most venues are within walking distance. Don’t forget about SoFo – the neighborhood South of Folkungsgatan – or the up and coming trendy area around Hornstull, which has undergone tremendous development in recent years.
JOSEFINA | KUNGLIGA DJURGÅRDEN
Here, you can get your fill of food and drink in an exotic setting among palm trees, lovely sofas, various lounges, multiple bars, and a feeling of being abroad.
On a beautiful sunny day, this is an absolute must. Josefina keeps the terrace open from May to September. And don’t worry about inclement weather. In case of rain, most of the terrace is covered and there are heaters that produce a wonderful atmosphere.
SNAPS BAR & BISTRO
In 1846, this was where you would be having your last meal before meeting your maker on Mosebacke Square. We’re not quite as dramatic these days. Today, we’re a classic cocktail bar that boasts Stockholm’s most fun patrons. Snaps is located at Medborgarplatsen, Södermalm’s unofficial center and it’s a well-attended destination, not least in the summer.

Slip into a warm poncho and mittens before stepping into Stockholm’s coolest bar, in the truest sense of the word. At a constant temperature of –5 °C (23 °F), you will enjoy your cocktail in an ice glass. The interior of the Ice Bar is made from ice from Torne River and decorated with carved illustrations of the Swedish wilderness.

Completely shielded off, right in the middle of the city’s most vibrant neighborhood, this anonymous but expressive courtyard is a coveted favorite spot for capturing the magic of summer nights.
Café Opera opened its doors back in August 1980 and quickly became Sweden’s most talked-about nightclub venue and a meeting point for all ages – and it has remained so. Over the years, Café Opera has seen its share of both Swedish royalty and A-list international celebrities. The nightclub is located in a unique, listed building from 1895 and features Vicke Andrén’s spectacular ceiling paintings.
